Cavalier King Charles Homes – Passionate Breeder

Cavalier King Charles owes its name to King Charles II. The Cavalier’s all-around beauty, regal grace, and even temper mark him as one of dogdom’s noblemen. He can be recognized by his short snout and long drooping ears. A toy spaniel no more than 13 inches high, the Cavalier draws you in with his face: The sweet, gentle, melting expression emanating from large, round eyes is a breed hallmark. This small dog is very gentle with children and can adapt to many lifestyles. Another is the silky, richly colored coat that can be one of four distinct varieties. He appreciates the company, including that of his peers.

Cavaliers may be aristocrats, but they gladly descend from their royal high horse for a backyard frolic or a squirrel chase. Joyful and playful, he also knows how to stay calm when necessary. Adaptable Cavaliers do equally well with active owners and homebodies’they can be upbeat athletes or shameless couch potatoes, depending on an owner’s lifestyle. They get along nicely with children and other dogs.

The Cavalier King Charles is characterized by a soft and long hair, forming multiple fringes. Cavaliers can be screened for all these conditions, and most live comfortably into old age. It may have ripples. As for its color, there are 4 types, once associated with certain English noble families. Owners should discuss any potential health issues with their dog’s breeder. If the Ruby dress is plain and fire in color, the other dresses have a base color (black or white), as well as spots that can be black, fire or white depending on the type. A responsible breeder will health-test all potential breeding stock. The Cavalier’s lustrous, silky coat requires little more than regular brushing and an occasional bath to keep him in beautiful condition. The Cavalier King Charles has a short snout, but not crushed like that of his cousin King Charles Spaniel. Brushing not only helps to keep the coat shiny and tangle-free but also serves as a full-body massage that the dog enjoys.

Cavalier King Charles : About the breed

A Designer Breed

Whether you’re thinking of buying a puppy, or breeding from your dog, it’s essential that you know what health issues may be found in your breed. To tackle these issues we advise that breeders use DNA tests, screening schemes and inbreeding coefficient calculators to help breed the healthiest dogs possible.

The Dog Breed you deserve

There are a number of The Kennel Club’s rules and regulations that may prevent a litter from being registered, find out about our general and breed specific breeding restrictions below.

Cavalier King Charles is an obedient dog, whose education is usually not a problem. His intelligence allows him to learn many orders, but he tends to be distracted. He will happily go on walks with his owner and also performs well in a number of canine sports, but he’s just as glad to stay on the sofa all day. It will therefore be necessary to use stratagems to maintain attention, or to do fairly short learning sessions. Cavaliers should not be allowed off leash because they retain scenting and hunting instincts, and they may not come when called if they’ve found an interesting trail to follow or a creature to pursue. A fenced yard is recommended. He is peaceful and affectionate by nature, and takes full advantage of every moment of life.

Cavalier King Charles is a dynamic, playful, and always enthusiastic dog. However, he knows how to be calm, especially with children, towards whom he shows great gentleness. They are friendly with strangers and with other animals, and they can do very well with children. They are smart and train easily, and Cavaliers excel in a number of canine sports including obedience, rally, and agility. He likes to be surrounded, both by humans and by other animals. This does not prevent him from barking sometimes when locating his congeners. With their sweet nature they also make fantastic therapy dogs. As with all breeds, early socialization and puppy training classes will help the young Cavalier to learn good manners and be comfortable with a wide variety of people and situations.
